Acting Mayor's Column I hope everyone had an enjoyable and safe Easter break. April will be an active month for your Council as it considers the Integrated Planning and Reporting Framework for 2024-25 including the Community Strategic Plan (CSP), Delivery Program (DP) and Operational Plan (OP). These documents will form the basis for the 2024-5 Budget and the priorities for future expenditure. C Community e y consultation sessions will be held in early May in Oberon and the villages to gauge Community needs and expectations. I encourage everyone to contribute to planning community priorities in expenditure and services to be provided by your Council Field 2 Forest in Oberon during April will bring to the community and visitors a variety of Oberon's produce and experiences. On Saturday 6 April enjoy an afternoon of savouring the delights of a truffle grazing board while sipping on a welcome truffle champagne cocktail at RedGround Australia. Redground grow their truffles and then allow you to indulge in truffle pizza slices. Chris Bettison will be playing live music and setting the mood for a laid-back aftemoon. A curated selection of beer, wine and soft drinks available for purchase on the day. Tickets-www.redground.com.au Oberon's Forest Talk is on Saturday 13 April. Learn about the art of cool climate beekeeping with James Griffith, all things State Forest with Nikki Bennetts and truffles and the Oberon Museum history with Col Roberts. Oberon Garden Club will also have a selection of Oberon cool climate Gardens open on the weekend of 13-14 April Transport for NSW will be conducting a Village Slow Down Campaign from 1 to 14 April with Oberon and surrounding villages included in the program. Courtesy Speed Monitor screens will be used to monitor motorist speed and Transport for NSW will be working with local police. A reminder that the NSW Government has introduced the Active and Creative Kids voucher scheme, helping to make activities more affordable for eligible NSW families. Parents, guardians and carers of eligible school-aged children will be able to use two $50 vouchers per calendar year. Points to note are: Vouchers are available to families receiving Family Tax Benefit Part A, or Family Tax Benefit Part B, or both. The $50 vouchers will be issued in school term 1 and school term 3. Vouchers must be redeemed before their expiry date. Vouchers can be downloaded as a QR code and used for an eligible physical or creative activity with registered providers. If you are eligible make sure you collect and use the vouchers.
