Mayor's Column Some of you may be aware of the $200 million Bathurst Hospital Redevelopment project which will benefit our community as well as Bathurst, Blayney and Rylstone. The redevelopment will enhance the range of services OBERON MORE THAN YOU IMAGINE OBERON COUNCIL Public Exhibition DEVELOPMENT APPLICATION 10.2024.17.1 Stage 2a - Recreation Facility (Construction of New Clubhouse, Temporary Access and Parking Oberon Council is in receipt of Development Application 10.2004.17.1 for Stage 2 - New available at the hospital and will reduce the need to travel out of mon our area and ensure the community has first class care well into The Development Application being for 31 O'Connell Road, Oberon, Lot 2 in DP 1073827 the future. The development is currently in the planning stage Planning Council If you would like information about the development, go to www.bathurstredevelopment.health.nsw.gov.au/projects/project There is a significant issue with the proposed plan as it currently The development will significantly reduce the amount of available parking in the hospital precinct. This reduction in parking spaces assumes that most people will use local public transport to travel to and from the hospital. This reduced parking is an accessibility issue for our community as most people travelling to the Bathurst Hospital must use private vehicles. Finding parking at the Hospitalis difficult now. It is common to have to park in side streets that are quite a distance from the Hospital. Unless there is sufficient parking designed into this redevelopment, reasonable access will not be available for everyone. Our local member, Paul Toole, has started an online petition to provide adequate parking in the redevelopment. I urge readers to go to www.pautoolemp.com.au/post/community-outrage-over-carparking and sign the petition, Bathurst Hospital is an integral part of our health system and access to the facility should be as easy as possible for everyone.
