Public Exhibition - Section 256 Financial Assistance At its 16 July 2024 Ordinary Meeting, Oberon Council resolved to support the following applications for funding under Section 256 of the Local Government Act 1993 and place on public exhibition for a period of 28 days. Funding for the 2024 Oberon Business and Tourism Awards $1,500 Can Assist-Provide ongoing support for cancer patients and their families in the Oberon Community $2,000 Anyone wishing to make a written submission may do so to the General Manager, For some time, I have been struggling with a significant respiratory deficiency that Oberon Council, PO Box 84, OBERON NSW 2787 or email council@oberon.nsw.gov.au substantially affects my stamina and capacity. I had hoped surgery would improve the situation. Unfortunately, although it helped, the improvement has not been sufficient for me to contemplate an election and a further 4-year term on the Council. I am proud of the achievements of the Council over the last 2 terms. Water fluoridation was a key public health initiative. Covid responses, endless natural disasters and a critical gas outage were well managed. New community facilities, including the Community Centre and Library, Gym and new Sporting Complex, have been completed or are in progress. Then there is the massive local road construction program that has been undertaken. The new Sewage Treatment Plant is not far away Our financial position is very sound, unlike many other rural and regional Councils. The rate reform has restored rate equity across the LGA Water issues have been difficult to manage. I learned that proper solutions to such complex issues always take a long time to develop and implement, are never simple cheap- and have usually been required to be done before now. or The achievements of the Council were built on the hard work and sound advice of Council Staff in developing many often-complex proposals and projects, as well as those serving Councillors who evaluate, tweak and then approve the proposals. I thank the Staff and Councillors for their work on behalf of the community and I have thoroughly enjoyed my time serving as a Councillor, Deputy Mayor and Mayor. I wish all candidates in the election well and that I trust the voters will cast their votes with due consideration. Mayor Mark Kellam Waste Voucher 24-25 Correction Council is aware of a print house error on the reverse side of the 2024/2025 Annual Waste Vouchers. Due to the complexities and potential confusion associated with reissuing, Council has made the decision to continue utilising the curent vouchers and ask the community to disregard the monetary value stated. Council acknowledge there has been public commentary regarding this issue.
