NEW AND IMPROVED OBERON VISITORS CENTRE OPENS! Thanks to a $502,559 grant from the previous Australian Government, through the Black Summer Bushfire Recovery Grants program, the Visitor's Centre has been given a full revamp inside and out! The external walls have been painted white, and the entrance has been completely transformed. Inside, tourists will enjoy a fossicking and foraging experiential zone, a new vibrant customer service area, refurbished display zones, and branding and infographic upgrades The half-million dollar makeover will help visitors to the region best discover the gold mine of great experiences in Oberon, and all that the Central West has to offer. It was an honour to declare this terrific new centre officially open! EVERYONE SHOULD FEEL SAFE IN THEIR HOME Everyone should feel safe in their home. I recently received a package sent via Australia post to my home. The sender's address on the package appeared to be fictitious and my family and I, including my children, were very shocked and concerned that our home was being targeted In accordance with protocols, In I notified the Australian Federal Police, and they in turn contacted Orange police, who have been very professional, and swiftly investigated and found that the package had been sent using a fake name, address and signature and was paid for with cash The CCTV at the post office revealed that the sender of the package is the Chair of the Calare Federal Electorate Council of the NSW National Party, Janelle Culverson. She is a former Cabonne Shire Councillor and aside from the remaining state MPs, is the most senior National Party member in the region. The package contained empty wine bottles bearing labels carrying an insulting message. When confronted by police last weekend, she admitted to sending it. I have not spoken to Ms Culverson since January and do not regard her as a friend. This was no joke. The sending of the package and the steps taken to conceal her identity, created fear, arolety and stress for our whole family, including my children. By this package being sent to my home, it creates awful worry that your house is being watched and that you and your family members may be in danger or at risk. This is nasty vicious and spiteful politics. It's the National Party operating in the shadows. This is an appalling new political low Because of the impact this has had on my whole family, I have contacted the Australian Federal Police and asked them to review whether a federal offence has been committed. An extract of the speech is set out below. "The Central West of New South Wales is one of the most vibrant st regions of this great country that we proudly call home. While abundant in natural beauty and resources. n incredible place to it's an i to live because of the generations of hardworking residents and strong communities which have had a vision for what they could achieve and dared greatly to make it happen. Region-building projects require the foresight to see beyond what is and picture what could be-region-building projects like the Great Western Highway upgrade, which would have helped bridge the great divide between city and country by strengthening the road system which connects them Devastatingly, the federal Labor government has proved time and time again that the vision of an Australia where country areas stand on equal footing with the city is not one they share. The federal government just axed over $2 billion of funding and walked away from the Great Western Highway upgrade between Katoomba and Lithgow This repugnant decision stinks of city favouritism. It's robbing the regions. It's a shameless and blatant burgling from the bush. Infrastructure Australia termed the project a key enabler of regional development Even the Minister for Infrastructure, Transport, Regional Development and Local Government said so herself earlier this year, telling local media that the funding remained on the table and that the project was needed-hollow assurances for the people of central western New South Wales. The people of our area deserve far better. I have demanded the urgent reversal of this disgraceful cut and also requested an urgent meeting with the Minister to explain to me how she will be reversing this outrageous decision For the past 18 months, the Labor government has looked at our region as though it's a money box from which to pilfer hard-won funding. First, we had the $27.8 million that was sitting in the bank for the Dixons Long Point project snatched away.
